Apple is facing challenges in revamping Siri for the era of generative AI, as reported by bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who indicates that the firm may not unveil “a truly updated, conversational version of Siri” until iOS 20 launches in 2027.
However, this does not imply that significant updates to siri won’t occur before than. A new iteration of Siri is expected to be introduced in May — finally integrating all the Apple Intelligence features that were revealed nearly a year ago.
Gurman characterizes this version of siri as possessing “two brains,” one dedicated to traditional commands like setting timers and making calls, while the other handles more complex inquiries utilizing personal information. A system that combines these two functionalities, referred to internally as “LLM Siri,” is anticipated to be revealed at the Worldwide developers Conference in June with a launch planned for spring 2026.
And most excitingly thereafter, Gurman suggests that Apple will then be able to fully advance the development of Siri’s elegant features, which could perhaps debut in the following year.
