Aneesah morrow is expected to be available for the NCAA Tournament, as stated by LSU coach Kim Mulkey after Morrow appeared to sustain a lower leg injury during the Tigers’ defeat against Texas in the SEC Tournament semifinals.
Morrow was taken off the court following an awkward fall in the third quarter. Eventually, she returned to the bench wearing a boot.
After the game, Mulkey mentioned that morrow had aggravated a mid-foot sprain she had previously suffered in February. The injury is not serious, and it is anticipated that this double-double powerhouse will be fully ready for March Madness. Mulkey noted that Morrow even asked trainers if she could return to play against Texas; however, the tigers opted for caution.
“She’s ready,” Mulkey remarked. “I wasn’t surprised she was urging (the trainers) to let her back into the game while they were saying ‘No way; we have bigger concerns.’ But that’s Nees.”
The Tigers secured a 101-87 victory over Florida in their previous match-up, setting a program record for points scored in an SEC Tournament contest.Meanwhile, Morrow achieved her 27th double-double of this season with 36 points on 15 of 21 shooting along with grabbing 14 rebounds. Her performance established an individual program record for points scored in an SEC Tournament game.
The No. 3 seed LSU team from Greenville, S.C., has already been competing without their leading scorer Flau’Jae Johnson who is dealing with shin inflammation.. Johnson is also expected back for the NCAA Tournament.the Tigers claimed last year’s national championship and reached the Elite Eight previously.
The loss against Texas marked only their third defeat out of their last four games. However, their resume remains strong and CBS Sports bracketologist Connor Groel has projected LSU as either a No. 2 or No. 3 seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers will officially learn about their fate on Selection Sunday which takes place on Sunday March 16 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
