According to a report from The Verge, Meta has terminated approximately 20 employees for disclosing sensitive information.
“We inform our staff when they join the company, and we provide regular reminders that leaking internal information, irrespective of intent, violates our policies,” stated Meta in the newsletter. “Recently,we completed an inquiry that led to the termination of around 20 employees for sharing confidential data outside the institution, and we expect more actions will follow. We take this matter seriously and will continue to act upon identifying leaks.”
This action aligns with a recent increase in reports detailing leaked insights about Meta’s internal discussions and undisclosed product strategies, including a recent all-hands meeting led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Following these leaks, Meta cautioned its workforce that those who leak would face termination.
In comments that were afterward leaked regarding these warnings, Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth reportedly informed staff members that the company was close to identifying those responsible.
